Every Morning Light
You pretend to text somebody when you're sitting at the bar
You're moving way too fast, not getting very far
You make believe that you love me almost every night
But I wake up to reality when I don't see you in the morning light
Chorus:
I don't care about the day, I don't care about the night
I just want to see you every morning light
Every morning light
Every morning light
It's not what you say, it's all that goes unsaid
I know you've been untrue because you're lying in my bed
You're still holding on as I close my eyes
But I wake up and you're gone
I guess you just don't care much for goodbyes
Chorus
You get there on time, and I'm already late
Was it meant to be, or is it just my fate
Every time you look over, I see someone new
As she turns her shoulder
I wake up and know it isn't you
Chorus

Shot Me Down
I went through my contact list
To find someone that I could talk to
But there’s only you that I could tell about my broken heart
And you’re the one it belongs to
You’re the one who shot it down
Right into the, right into the ground
Every time I saw you
Every line I crossed for you
My heart was higher than the stars
Falling from the sky
And you’re the one I belong to
You’re the one who shot me down
Right into the, right into the ground
You shot me, you shot me, you shot me, shot me, shot me down
Shot me down, oh oh
When I look in the mirror
And I see my own face
I don’t feel no perile
Or feel no disgrace
As I feel the sunlight on the back of my eyes
I think of you in the distance
And I hear that lone wolf cry

Falling Behind
I met my dark angel and we crossed every line
Left that old world falling behind
When the sun is hiding from it's own shadow
I look into her eyes and know it's time to go
It's time to go
Chorus:
All my lie-ie-ie-ie-ife
I'm falling behind
I stumble over the reason for the rocks that I'm walking on
I get up fighting 'cause I know I've already won
That island girl is sleepwalking
She's tryin' to find me
One time around is not enough
Better make it three
Chorus
And now I'm wide awake as Marie Laveau lies in my bed
I know I can't when she's in my head
If I wake up and she's still on my mind
I'll know it isn't her 'cause she's not that kind
Chorus

This Steel Town
You might have it made I don’t know
With a hundred million paid on your IPO
But just keep your blinders buried
On the things that matter most
And you’ll never have a son
Never have a son
Never have a son of a living ghost
Remember that summer you worked at the coke plant
Three thousand in the ovens
And you thought that you could melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Three thousand in the ovens
And you knew that you would melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Well, you kiss your wife in the morning before work
Then she sees the kids off to school
And you drive through the same town where you were born
And if you keep your eyes on the road
You’ll never have a son
Never have a son of a living ghost
Remember those years you wasted at the coke plant
Three thousand in the ovens
And you felt like you might melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Three thousand in the ovens
And you thought that you could melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Well, I know I ain’t where you are
Not much to show for my trials
I realize now I never left this town
Though I traveled at least a hundred million lonely miles
But if I keep my blinders buried on the things that matter most
Then I know I’ll never have a son
Never have a son
Never have a son of a living ghost
And I know I never worked in the coke plant
Three thousand in the ovens
But I still thought that I could melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Three thousand in the ovens
And I thought that I could melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Three thousand in the ovens
And I knew that I could melt away
Melt away from this steel town
Three thousand in the ovens
And I knew that I could melt away
But I was wrong…

Tied To Your Heart
You walk into the room
Step into my mind
And I know I know I can’t forget
A single thing about you
Chorus:
And now that I’m free
With your chains on me
I’m tied to your heart baby
Never want to be set free
Anything you want
Whatever you say
I’m hanging by the words as they fall
Fall and you reign over me
Chorus
I wake up to the light
You’re all that’s in my head
I’m amazed by this dark angel
That I find sleeping in my bed
Chorus

Cold Wind
I Can feel the cold wind and I see an ocean
Welling up inside of you all in one motion
I just want to reach inside and melt the ice running through your veins
I want to know everything you're thinking
And feel every pain
Just like a volcano under a peaceful sky
The pressure's on now, we won't know when or where
But I , I want to be there when that red hot river flows
I'll swim right through your lava into your trail of clothes
And when I reach you and touch your tender cheek
With lips of fire, I feel my knees go weak
From now 'till the very end of every winter season
I stand before you and your presence gives me reason
I can feel the cold wind and I see an ocean
Welling up inside of you all in one motion
She pours herself on me like gasoline
On our bed of fire
as she goes down on me
And the flames go higher
When our time was written oh so far away
We were never given a chapter for today
But I, I'm gonna write a page of nothing but your name
I'll read it all again and live it frame by frame
I can feel the cold wind and I see an ocean
Welling up inside of you all in one motion

You're Still There
I showed up twenty seconds later after you had gone
On that day I did not see you glide across the room
I didn’t look into your eyes
You never touched my hand
And your warm breath on my chest didn’t melt my heart
We spent twenty years apart just running from the blues
‘Cause I looked into a window and I stopped to tie my shoes
And you never wore my ring, I didn’t see you smile
As your father held your arm walking down the aisle
In that blanket as you held her wrapped up like a jewel
And you didn’t cry the first day we dropped her off at school
We spent twenty years apart just running from the blues
‘Cause I looked into a window and I stopped to tie my shoes
Chorus:
And I wake up from my worst nightmare
Reach out for you and you’re still there
You’re still there
You’re still there
Sometimes at night in the darkness when it’s too hard to see
I don’t exist ‘cause I’m no one without you next to me
All I hear is just silence hanging in the air
Afraid to reach out for your love and find that nothing’s there
I can almost hear you breathing, I know I smell your hair
To be so close and not have you really isn’t fair
Chorus

Until Now
Until now, I could see all my life so clearly
And I was heading down a road with no return in sight
I was daring Dead Man’s Curve to take me to the light
And at my funeral I saw no one to care
Then, you were there to change my fate
Until now, time went on without depth then was gone
And I was falling right through space, so deafening the clocks
All my life a waterfall breaking to the rocks
And as I held out my hand reflecting to the waves
I felt your love there for me to save
Oh, there for me to save
So I stand here tonight on this stage in the light
And I’m here only for you every waking day
Nothing matters that I do or anything I say
And I could end it all right now and never shed a tear
As you are here
As you are here
As you are here

Falling For You
I wake up in the morning
The sunlight hits my bed
I watch her as she’s sleeping
All my dreams are in her head
Chorus:
And I’m falling, I’m falling
I’m falling for you
I’m falling, I’m falling
I’m falling for you
I go to work each day now
Sometimes, I wonder why I do
When I get my paycheck
I bring it home to you
Chorus
I go to bed at night now
A good woman by my side
I tell her everything now
I never have to hide
Chorus

Driving Right Back To You
Well I've got White Lightning on my car seat
I'm moving way faster than the law
Through the hills of Ohio
The sharpest hairpin turns you ever saw
Chorus:
And I'm driving right back to you
I'm driving right back to you
Driving right back to you to break my heart
Driving right back to you to break my heart
Well see those lights in the mirror
They think that they can take me to the ground
Oh but now they're getting smaller
In the dust I'm leaving this damn town
Chorus
Well they say that I'm no good for you
And that I'll steal your heart and hide the key
But no, they don't know me
Only you know know what's inside me
Chorus
Driving right back to you don't break my heart
No, don't break it baby

Midnight Express
In the light of day, only good is seen
But they’ll lock you right away if you’re a bad machine
To truly know yourself is to truly know your God
We only walk one way because we’re all the same
Broken cogs in this wheel and we’re all to blame
To truly know yourself is to truly know your God
It’s midnight now, and I hear that train far away
But, I’ll go the other way
Against you now, against you
Because I’m not like you
In the light of day, only good is seen
But they’ll lock you right away if you’re a bad machine
To truly know yourself is to truly know You’re God
It’s midnight now, and I’m on that train far away
But, I’m from the factory
And I know you’re bad, yes I know you’re bad
Because I made you

Gone Like Me
I tell you I know you, know you from somewhere
Been to your ocean and I swam through your soft hair
I was a fool not to take you
I didn’t know that I could make you
Now, I like where I am
Three thousand miles away, I can still taste your hand
Chorus:
She’ll take your heart into her hand
And melt your mind into her sand
You’ll feel so trapped that you’re free
Until you’re gone like me
Well, I tell you I saw her under the stairway
Toking a number that I rolled in the hallway
She was a tall drink of water
I was so parched that I had to have her
Now, it’s over again
I know I can’t recover from the state I’m in
Chorus
I know how this all ends, it goes on forever
I get you close and you just get even closer
I was a man always faking
Underneath, your legs were shaking
Now, I live for today
You know I’m gonna love you baby anyway so…
Chorus:
You take my heart into your hand
And melt my mind into your sand
I feel so trapped that I’m free
I guess you’re gone like me
Gone like me
Gone like me
Gone like me

Stripper Pole
She runs that gold right through her fingers
Sometimes right through her soul
She moves right down along your body
Chorus:
Like it was, like it was a stripper pole
Like it was, like it was a stripper pole
She takes sometimes without forgiving, a heart as black as coal
You know to her it’s just a living
(Rap)
She looks right through you
Across the crowded room
Smell of danger
Just like perfume
And when she opens up her legs
It’s just like the dawn
When she opens her dark heart
Yours is gone
She runs that gold right through her fingers
Sometimes right through her soul
She moves right down along your body
Chorus
She’ll make you promise
One that you can’t keep
Then she’ll take you home with her
And never let you sleep
So if you’re wondering
If she’s worth the cost
One twenty dollar lap dance
And your soul is lost
I run that gold right through my fingers
Sometimes, right through my soul
I move right down your body
Like it was a stripper pole

I Let Go
When I wake up, I think of you
At night I dream of you and
In between, I’m lost in you
Yeah, in between
I’m lost in you, lost in you
And there’s nothing, nothing I can hold to you
No one else can ever change me
Chorus:
Oh, and I hold on
I hold on
I hold on
I let go
When I wake up alone with you
I see the light in you and
In the night, I’m lost in you
Yeah, in the night
I’m lost in you
Lost in you
And there’s nothing, nothing I can hold to you
No one else can ever save me
Chorus

I know it's Love when she sees what I look like in the morning and still sticks around
When you lose the closest person to you, who do you turn to for solace?
My Past life as a virtuoso pianist
Drums - Curtiss Johnson
Drums - David Vought
Guitar - Carlo Volhl
Keys, Bass, Vocals - Frank Bengier
It's hard to tell if it's just a dream or something real when I wake up alone... Every Morning Light.
The way that you Shot Me Down, I might never be the same again.
She was a time traveler from the 19th century straight to my bed... straight into my head. It was Marie Laveau, Voodoo Priestess. She was always one step ahead of me, and I was Falling Behind.
I never worked in the coke plant. But I still have that coal dust layered in my lungs moving like sludge through my veins as I drive through the shadows that use to be This Steel Town.
When I find you... I can't get away, and I realize that I don't want to... because I'm Tied To Your Heart.
There's a Cold Wind surrounding the volcano of your heart. Is it enough to melt the ice running through your veins.
If I hadn't stopped to tie my shoes that day twenty years ago, I would have met you... and life would be different now. When I wake in the middle of the night, I would find that You're Still There.
A long time ago in another life, I was a bootlegger in the 1920's during prohibition... running moonshine... running from the law... running from the rival gangs... and running from myself... but always trying to get back to you. Only to find out that you didn't want me either. I was Driving Right Back To You to break my heart.
